Marriage Certificates

All couples which have had a wedding in the UK will be issued a marriage certificate. It is usually issued immediately after the ceremony, but sometimes it may take a few days, depending on ceremony type.

A single marriage certificate is issued to the couple, although additional copies can be obtained and there is usually a fee involved.

In the case of a destination wedding, an international marriage certificate will be issued, which will be valid in your home country. To register your marriage in your home country, simply take the certificate along with documentation to the registrar when you arrive home.

Additional copies are difficult to obtain once you leave the UK, therefore if you wish to have additional copies, it is advisable to let your coordinator know beforehand, in order for the copies to be available before you depart.
