Weddings in the North East
There is no better place to totally relax, unwind and have a magical wedding day than in the North East. There are miles and miles of contrasting scenic views to enjoy. An attraction not to go unnoticed is 'Hogwarts'. This glorious medieval castle and its beautiful surroundings played a major part in the Harry Potter movies. Tyne and Wear is a popular tourist destination with plenty to things to see and do including Washington Old Hall, the ancestral home of George Washington. The city of Sunderland is a hot spot for arts and culture! See fantastic glass exhibitions and live glass blowing, awaken your senses at the Winter Gardens or make your way along the St Peter’s Riverside Sculpture Trial.
County Durham is dominated mainly by the spectacular city of Durham, nestled alongside the leafy River Wear, with the overwhelming Durham cathedral towering over it. Close by is Durham Castle home to the Bishops of Durham who ruled the whole area like kings. To the West of the city is the beautiful North Pennines home to the impressive waterfall High Force, with the limestone cliffs of the North Sea to the East.
Tees Valley is at the heart of Captain Cook Country - learn about the world’s most famous navigator and explorer’s adventures at his birthplace museum where you will also find a full size replica of the ship in which he sailed the South Seas! Step aboard Britain’s oldest warship, docked in Hartlepool or discover smugglers’ haunts at Saltburn. But there is more to this county than its maritime history…peaceful countryside, a spectacular coastline with quaint fishing villages, exciting town centres and the Tees River hosting exhilarating water sports like white water rafting.
