Weddings in Southampton

Southampton, found in the Hampshire County, is an intriguing part of the UK and a lovely location to host an unforgettable British wedding. A modern city, combined with a rich maritime heritage, makes this a place calling out to be enjoyed; with so many things to see and do, it will be difficult to fit them all into one visit!

Situated around its famous port, you will come across some outstanding art galleries, like the Southampton Art Gallery, with wonderful collections of 20th century British Art. You will discover magnificent theaters where you can catch a blockbuster West End musical, as well as top concert halls and venues staging live music events and comedy acts throughout the year.

The waterfront is vibrant and bustling with plenty to keep you amused. The elegant marinas are ideal for a wide range of water sports including sailing or, for those of you who prefer to stick to dry land, you can simply relax and eat al fresco while watching the cruise liners making their way into the docks.

It won’t take long to discover how Southampton got the title The Green City. There is greenery everywhere you look with ponds and lakes too! A stroll through the formal parks will take you back to the Victorian Era, featuring rose gardens, ornate fountains and impressive statues. If your interest runs more along the lines of fishing, golf and biking, you will find endless opportunities to enjoy all these leisure pursuits. Annual summer festivals and fairs fill the parks with an atmosphere not to be missed.

As the day draws to an end, the nightlife fires up; traditional pubs filled with friendly faces, intimate lounges, restaurants serving British and international cuisine, bars and clubs where you can party till late, casinos and entertainment centers...really the choice is that vast!

Despite, Southampton’s up to date facilities, it has hung on to its medieval character and you won’t have to explore very far afield to come across its astonishing past. A number of ancient buildings survived WWII, including an entire section of the ancient walls and the impressive gates, most notably Bargate. The city has always had close connections with the sea; its world class harbour has a fascinating history dating back to Roman times with numerous museums bringing the tales of the past to life. The Maritime Museum contains memorabilia from the fated Titanic which set sail from here in 1912.

You are sure not to run out of delights while in Southampton; the sea air, varied history, cultural pleasures, tasty food, art and entertainment will all compliment you wedding here perfectly!
