The city is famous for its history and culture, hence the countless amounts of theatres, galleries, museum and exhibitions. The galleries and museums are amongst the finest in the world and will keep you amazed for hours on end. Make some time to visit the Tate Modern with its wonderful collection of international modern art.
One of the best shopping experiences awaits you in London with thousands of stores. The entertainment scene is fantastic with plenty of restaurants, pubs, cinemas, theatres, nightclubs and hundreds of live music venues to choose from. No wonder it is referred to as the city that never sleeps.
If you prefer the more peaceful surroundings, surprisingly London has them too! London is one of the greenest cities in the world with nature reserves, traditional parks and gardens, wildlife and lakes as well as plenty of wide open spaces.
Take a stroll along Tower Bridge over the River Thames, famous as one of London’s main assets. Take the opportunity see inside the bridge and enjoy the wonderful views across the river through the glass panelled sidewalks. There are a whole bunch of reasons to spend time alongside this fascinating and beautiful river. Its variety of wildlife, archaeology and scenery are only a few to mention! There are also plenty of other canals and waterways to explore in and around the city.
London is filled with exciting things to do and see with over 200 fantastic attractions and four Heritage Sites; you will be spoilt for choice. Royal Heritage cannot go unnoticed, it’s all around London. Experience the changing of the guard at royal residencies or go that bit further by visiting the numerous royal gardens, parks, castles, and palaces, churches and cathedrals. You will find Royal family residents at Buckingham Palace as well as Kensington Palace which are both seasonally open to the public.
A trip to London would be incomplete without visiting its most famous tourist attraction – Madame Tussauds where your favourite celebrities come to life in a collection of realistic wax figures in specially designed settings.
While in London make sure you go and see Trafalgar Square where the sensational Nelson’s Column stands guarded by four giant lions which attract hundreds of hungry pigeons. Marvel at the stunning buildings, statues and lovely fountains around the square.
London is a hot spot for film locations, some well know movies include Notting Hill, Alfie, Mary Poppins, The Elephant Man, Mona Lisa, Bridget Jones’s Diary but there are hundreds. So when you are out and about in London why not try and spot some of these well known locations.
London is an amazing location to get married with its vastness of attractions waiting to be explored, from the splendid views from the London Eye, Big Ben and the houses of parliament, to the floating museum, HMS Belfast.
